  • Do you need words and perspectives to help you articulate your thoughts and feelings?

  • Looking for a way to talk about climate issues with your child - in a creative, playful and thought-provoking way?

The workshops invite you to explore your own daily life and choices and find small, sustainable actions you can take to make a difference.

What happens in the climate workshops from Words to Action?

We will meet on three Saturdays in September 13.9. | 20.9. | 27.9. at 13-15 at the Neighbourhood House in Matinkylä, Espoo (Matinkatu 7).

Workshops

  • write with easy and inspiring exercises

  • reflect on our own relationship with nature, climate, environment and change

  • looking at everyday choices - such as mobility, energy use and respect for nature - from a new perspective

  • share ideas and experiences in a safe and supportive atmosphere

  • we also use other creative methods, such as arts and crafts and visual work.

The workshops allow everyone to write and create in their own way and at their own pace. Sharing texts is always voluntary - it's all about personal insight and experience.

Each meeting has its own theme and programme:

  • 13.9. Recycling and recycling heroes - This workshop is especially aimed at families, but adults are also welcome. Everyone can make their own recycling hero and tell their story by writing it down. The second instructor will be Minka Heino, visual artist and literary therapy counsellor.

  • 20.9. Climate lessons - This session is best suited for adults. Climate change evokes a wide range of emotions - fear, sadness, hope, anger. This workshop will explore these emotions through reading and writing and find words to express and deal with climate concerns.

  • 27.9. Conservation and controversial species - A workshop suitable for families and adults. The workshop will explore, write about and paint about animal species that people often fear, hate or loathe. Inspired by Reetta Niemelä and Sanna Pelliccioni's book Don't hate me (Karisto 2020). Also this time, the second instructor is Minka Heino, literary therapy instructor and visual artist.

Why participate?

Hey you!

Welcome to a journey of discovery in your own life! I will help you discover the power of words, your own creativity and the courage to live your dreams.

Ten years ago, my own creativity was locked and my minutes were lost. Then I found myself, somewhat accidentally, in a creative writing workshop.

There, the instructor's simple and liberating writing exercises and listening presence worked wonders. Add to this the gracious and warm spirit of the group and my locks were unlocked. I felt like I was with my tribe, doing exactly what I was meant to do.

I discovered my own voice and the power of writing. But it was also the start of something much bigger.

As a result of that weekend, I studied first as a literary arts teacher at Snellman Summer University in Kuopio and then as a literary therapy teacher at a training organised by the Helsinki University Continuing Education Centre HY+ and the Finnish Literary Therapy Association. I am constantly developing myself and my skills, and I have just started a top-level course in the literary therapy training pathway, which trains literary therapists.

I've helped hundreds of people of all ages through live groups, workshops and online courses to unlock their creativity, strengthen their mental wellbeing, increase their self-awareness and find their strengths and their own way in life through creative and nurturing writing - without forgetting the joy of creativity and playfulness.

You too are warmly welcome on this journey to discover yourself and the words of your life.
