Calm in the middle of the storm - online group 22.10.-12.11.2025
Does the news flow feel like a burden?
Are you more worried about the state of the world than you'd like to admit?
Do you need words to articulate your thoughts and feelings?
Would you like to write and discuss in a calm, supportive atmosphere?
Welcome to a four-weekly online group designed just for you! Calm in the midst of the storm invites you to explore the power of words in the midst of uncertainty. It offers a space where you don't have to know anything - you just have to be willing to try.
Together, we will explore how literature and writing can help you deal with the turbulence of the world. We will read texts, share ideas, play with words and experiment with different styles and ways of writing. In the workshop, everyone gets to write for themselves, in their own way and at their own pace.
The Calm in the Storm group will meet four consecutive Wednesdays from 18-20 in the Zoom.
The aim is to create a safe space where everyone can experience the power and comfort of words. You don't need previous experience of writing or literature - just an open mind, a pen and a notebook.

What's going on in the online group Calming down in the middle of the storm?
We will meet in a relaxed online environment on the Zoom platform on four consecutive Wednesdays from 18-20.The first meeting will be on 22 October and the last on 12 November.
We will explore a variety of ways of dealing with uncertainty and anxiety through literature and writing: we will read different texts together and discuss what we read and the thoughts and feelings it evokes, but there is no need to "understand" or analyse anything in depth - it is enough to experience and reflect in your own way.
We will write short texts ourselves, using easy and inspiring exercises. We use stimulus materials such as pictures, music, news headlines or ready-made text snippets. You decide what you want to write and whether you want to share your text with others. Sharing is always optional.
The workshop does not require previous experience in writing or literature. You don't need a literary education or creative confidence - just curiosity, a sense of playfulness and a willingness to try something new. The workshop does not correct or critique texts, but gives words space to be, to breathe and to touch.

Hey you!
Welcome to a journey of discovery in your own life! I will help you discover the power of words, your own creativity and the courage to live your dreams.
Ten years ago, my own creativity was locked and my minutes were lost. Then I found myself, somewhat accidentally, in a creative writing workshop.
There, the instructor's simple and liberating writing exercises and listening presence worked wonders. Add to this the gracious and warm spirit of the group and my locks were unlocked. I felt like I was with my tribe, doing exactly what I was meant to do.
I discovered my own voice and the power of writing. But it was also the start of something much bigger.
As a result of that weekend, I studied first as a literary arts teacher at Snellman Summer University in Kuopio and then as a literary therapy teacher at a training organised by the Helsinki University Continuing Education Centre HY+ and the Finnish Literary Therapy Association. I am constantly developing myself and my skills, and I have just started a top-level course in the literary therapy training pathway, which trains literary therapists.
I've helped hundreds of people of all ages through live groups, workshops and online courses to unlock their creativity, strengthen their mental wellbeing, increase their self-awareness and find their strengths and their own way in life through creative and nurturing writing - without forgetting the joy of creativity and playfulness.
You too are warmly welcome on this journey to discover yourself and the words of your life.
