Learn to support yourself and others

Welcome to the weekend-long Mental Health First Aid® training, where you will learn how to strengthen your own and others' mental health in everyday encounters.

The training will provide you with evidence-based skills to identify and address mental health challenges - humanely, courageously and with hope.

The training is for anyone who wants to better understand mental health and learn how to support people in different life situations - at work, in volunteering or in their own community. No specific prior knowledge is required.

However, the training is not suitable for people in acute crisis.

Topics covered in the training

  • depression

  • anxiety

  • psychotic disorders

  • substance abuse and mental health

  • mental health crises and suicide prevention

  • steps to mental health first aid

After the training

  • identify the most common mental health disorders and their symptoms

  • know how to deal with a person in a difficult life situation

  • know how to apply the steps of mental health first aid.

Hanna is a mental health first aid counsellor, nurse, student of solution-focused brief therapy, solution-focused neuropsychiatric coach, sex educator and positive psychology practitioner. Her work combines long experience working with young people and families with a warm, people-oriented approach to mental health promotion.

Annamari is a Mental Health First Aid counsellor and a trained literary therapist working at the interface of writing and mental wellbeing. She runs courses and groups where words act as a pathway to understanding, recovery and connection.

Practical information

Time: Sat-Sun 24.1.-25.1.2026 at 9-16

Place: Asukastalo Ankkuri, Paasivaarankatu 6, 00810 Helsinki

Duration: 14 hours

Price: 150 €

The training fee includes the Mental Health First Aid® booklet, which will be distributed to participants on Saturday.

After the training, you will receive a certificate issued by MIELI.

The training will take place if there are at least ten participants.

The participation fee will be invoiced in one instalment after the last day of registration. Cancellations can be made free of charge until the last day of registration. If cancellation is made after this date without a medical certificate, half of the fee will be charged.
